Best Floorstanding Speakers Under $300 In 2022

Today I am looking at the 7 best floor standing speakers under $300. This is a very interesting price range and for most people who are looking to spend 300 bucks or less. They will be looking to upgrade their existing stereo speakers, surround sound speakers or even just have better sound than what their TV offers. I look at speakers like these as a person’s first big upgrade from what they already have and while $300 is no small chunk of change. It is a more budget conscious purchase than a set of floorstanding speakers that are under $500 or even speakers under $1000.

While I have been testing audio equipment for years and do know good sound when I hear it. It never hurts to look around and see the opinions of customers who have actually spent their hard earned money on these speakers.

1. Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed Floorstanding Loudspeaker Audio Bundle

1. Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed Floorstanding Loudspeaker Audio Bundle

Pros:

  • They have a nice curvy design
  • Price is truly fantastic
  • Great entry level speakers
  • Strong build quality

Cons:

  • Curvy design may not be to everyone’s taste
  • There is some breaking in time

Here we have the Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed Floorstanding Loudspeaker Audio Bundle which are a set of floor standing speakers that I think look really cool. They have an ash effect that I really like as it gives them some class. The most eye catching feature of the design though is actually the speaker grille. The majority of speakers that I have come across tend to have a rectangular speaker grille. These ones though stand out in that Pioneer have gone for an oval shape which is very easy on the eyes. The base also has a curve to it which I think helps the overall style.

At a little over 200 bucks, I was actually quite impressed with the sound that these produced. With three woofers and a tweeter, they offer more power than you would think. Like any speakers at this price you are looking at a fair bit of use before they are broken in properly, but that is to be expected. Some old school vinyl from the 80’s as well as a couple of movies was what I tested these with and I was very happy with how they sounded. I would still say that these are entry level speakers, but I would happily have these on my second turntable or even with the TV in our bedroom as the bass and treble is far better than you would expect at this kind of price. I really do think Pioneer has done a great job with these.

What Other People Are Saying

I had a look over at B&H.com to see what they thought about these speakers. Like me, they were actually very impressed with not just the design, but the sound quality as well. They had this to say about these speakers “With high-end features and unsurpassed sound reproduction, the SP-FS52 Andrew Jones Designed Floorstanding Loudspeaker from Pioneer will take your audio listening experience to a whole new level.” Most other reviews I have read about these speakers have also been very positive.

The Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed Floorstanding Loudspeaker Audio Bundle are truly fantastic speakers. I really do not see how anyone could be disappointed with these, especially considering they are only a little over 200 bucks. When it comes to the best floor standing speakers under $300 these are going to be hard to beat.

2. Dayton Audio T652 Dual 6-1/2″ 2-Way Tower Speaker Pair

2. Dayton Audio T652 Dual 6-1/2" 2-Way Tower Speaker Pair

Pros:

  • They cost just over 100 bucks
  • The design is pretty cool
  • Solid construction
  • Many positive reviews

Cons:

  • You have to mess with settings to get the best sound
  • They are budget priced speakers, keep that in mind

The first thing that captures your attention about these is the price. At just over 100 bucks these would be great if you are trying to build your first home theater setup or if you are just getting into collecting records or back into music. The other thing that the pictures do not do justice is how compact these are. Some people do not like tower speakers  as they feel they take over the room and I get that. These ones though are not overly tall and they are far thinner in person than the pictures suggest. This makes these speakers worth considering if you are short on space.

There are two 6 and ½ woofers and a tweeter powering these and to be honest the sound is not bad at all. Now granted you are going to have to do some serious tweaking with your receiver or stereo settings to get the bass and treble just right, but it can be done. I decided to have a listen to my favorite live Nirvana album and I was pleased with how it sounded after I had got the settings just right on my receiver. At first, the bass was a little tiny if you know what I mean. At this price range you have to be realistic and while the sound is not perfect I do feel that it is certainly decent enough to make this worthy of consideration. Especially if you are like me and do not mind playing with your settings to get the levels just right.

What Other People Are Saying

I spent a while looking over the reviews on Amazon.com to see what other people who have used these (and actually spent their money on) had to say. One review said this “It took me a little while to properly calibrate these with my Onkyo TX-RX610 receiver, especially the crossovers, but the results are fantastic!” which is pretty much my exact feelings. Any reviews that had negative things to say seemed to be very unrealistic about the kind of sound you would get at this price range and they never mentioned if they tinkered with their settings on their stereo or home theatre setup.

I was quite impressed with what Dayton Audio have done. These speakers look pretty cool and the sound is quite impressive when you get it just right. Out of the box, the sound is not going to blow you away. However, for the average joe, I do think that the sound is certainly passable, but you can always play around with your settings to get the best sound possible out of these. The fact that these are also around 100 bucks is great!

3. Polk Audio T50 Home Theater and Music Floor Standing Tower Speaker

3. Polk Audio T50 Home Theater and Music Floor Standing Tower Speaker

Pros:

  • Sound is great
  • Works great for movies and music
  • Nice style
  • Very well made

Cons:

  • A little break in time is required
  • Make sure you order two!

I have used Polk Audio products before so I am always happy to check a new one out. This is for just a single speaker, but when you order two they come in at under 300 bucks. These have that cool and elegant Polk Audio style. They actually have a fair bit of weight to them so they do feel very solid. I like how the speaker grille covers the whole front of the speaker and the way the base has a bit of curve to it is pretty cool. I really like the style of these and think that they will fit in with your setup very well.

The sound quality of these is very good for the price. They have a tweeter and three drivers pushing the sound. The most impressive aspect of the sound is the bass that these produce. I did not notice that it got better as it went on so there clearly is a breaking in period. The first thing I tested these out with was Jurassic Park on Blu-Ray and I thought that it sounded fantastic. Music wise I had a lot of fun one evening with a few of my favorite vinyl albums and as I was listening to these while my family as a sleep I did not have the sound too loud and I was happy with the sound quality. I think for lower priced speakers, Polk Audio has done a great job with these.

What Other People Are Saying

I had a good look on the internet and the Polk Audio T50 Home Theater and Music Floor Standing Tower Speaker is getting very positive reviews. Over at Home Theatre Review they had some very nice things to say about it. In their review, they said this “As I hinted in the introduction, the Polk Audio T50 really doesn’t have a lot of competition; there just aren’t that many tower speakers in this price range that are designed to deliver high-quality sound.” Which I think is exactly right and it is my feelings on this speaker as well. Polk Audio has not cut any corners here at all.

The Polk Audio T50 Home Theater and Music Floor Standing Tower Speaker is fantastic and while you have to order two. I really do think that this is one of the best sounding speakers at this price range I have ever seen. The sound quality is great and it is very easy on the eyes too.

4. beFree Sound BFS-T110W 2.1 Channel Powered Bluetooth Dual Wood Tower Speakers

4. beFree Sound BFS-T110W 2.1 Channel Powered Bluetooth Dual Wood Tower Speakers

Pros:

  • They have a very cool style
  • Only cost around 100 bucks
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Sound is not that bad

Cons:

  • They are prone to overheating
  • To get the best sound, you have to work with settings

Next up we have the beFree Sound BFS-T110W 2.1 Channel Powered Bluetooth Dual Wood Tower Speakers. The first thing that captures your eye about these is the design. I really like the cherry and black design they have gone for. They have a kind of cool jazz thing going on and that is something I really dig. These are currently priced at a little over 100 bucks so they are at the lower end of the pricing spectrum of what we are looking at. Also do not just have to be wired into your receiver. They have Bluetooth connectivity and can even allow you to plug in a USB or SD card.

Getting two tower speakers for close to 100 bucks, especially Bluetooth speakers starts ringing alarm bells in terms of the sound quality. I hooked these up and decided to treat them to one of the best albums of the 80’s, Open Up And Say Ahh by Poison. This is one of my go-to albums to test speakers! Anyway, the sound was ok. The bass was kind of weak and the treble nothing to shout home about. But I did not want to just give up on them. So I played around with my settings a bit and got the sound to a point where I would class it as decent. These speakers do come with a very confusing remote control which I am not too keen on. Also, I have to talk about the heat! These speakers get very, very hot. I honestly have not used a set of speakers that have ever gotten as hot as these at the back so be careful with these.

What Other People Are Saying

I thought that the issue I had with the speakers getting hot may have been down to be being sent a defective pair. Well, a quick look at the Amazon page for these speakers shows that I am not the only one with this issues as a few other reviews talk about it. One guy said, “The back is overheating, probably because there are no vents at all.” And he is not the only one who had issues with them overheating.

The beFree Sound BFS-T110W 2.1 Channel Powered Bluetooth Dual Wood Tower Speakers really do look cool and with the right tinkering with the settings you can get them sounding pretty decent. However, the fact is the overheating thing is clearly an issue with these so that is certainly something to watch. I am hopeful that this is going to be addressed with future revisions of the game.

5. Rockville TM80B Black Home Theater System Tower Speakers

5. Rockville TM80B Black Home Theater System Tower Speakers

Pros:

  • Three different colors available
  • Many different sound options
  • Costs around 200 bucks
  • Sound is far better than you would think

Cons:

  • Design may not be to everyone’s taste
  • You have to play with settings to get the best sound

The last set of speakers I tested over the last month were these Rockville TM80B Black Home Theater System Tower Speakers. The set that I got were black, but these also come in cherry and also a very snazzy and groovy looking white. The design of these is not really my cup of tea, but from what I have read many people love the design, especially the white version. The front of the speakers at the top has this black square which one of the speakers has the USB, SD and other inputs on it. I would much prefer this was on the back or the side, but that to be honest is just a personal preference.

These are Bluetooth speakers, but like I said there is a USB, SD and of course your standard jacks as well. Two built in subwoofers and drivers give these way more kick than I was expecting. At first, the sound was a little distorted, but that was because I had them way too loud and the bass was a bit overpowering. With a few changes to my settings though the sound was actually really good. I tested these out with some records, a couple of movies, but as well as this I also streamed Spotify from my phone to the speakers and the sound quality was good and the way my phone connected could not have been any easier. I will be honest and say that I am not usually the biggest fan of Bluetooth speakers, but these ones work great and they only cost a couple hundred bucks.

What Other People Are Saying

I looked at the different reviews on Amazon and one that caught my eye had this to say. “Only thing I don’t like is the bass is still too powerful even when subwoofer is turned to lowest setting. I may have to try different equalizers programmed in system. But for the money these are fantastic.” I would agree with this as the remote control has a ton of different options for you to play with. For the most part, people seem quite impressed with these, especially at the asking price.

The Rockville TM80B Black Home Theater System Tower Speakers are some very interesting speakers. While you may think they are “cheap” these actually sound far better than you would think. If you take the time to break these in properly and also play around with the settings so that you get the sound just right, you will have a great set of speakers on your hands here.

6. VENLOIC Music Floor Standing Bluetooth Tower Speaker with Subwoofer

6. VENLOIC Music Floor Standing Bluetooth Tower Speaker with Subwoofer

Pros:

  • Nice and slim design
  • Very affordable
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Build in sub-woofer

Cons:

  • Build quality has been called into question
  • Not the greatest sound

Next up we have this VENLOIC Music Floor Standing Bluetooth Tower Speaker with Subwoofer  which is a single speaker, but if you were to buy two of these they would only cost you a little over 150 bucks. While I have not personally tested this speaker I wanted to include it on my best floor standing speakers under $300 list as it is one of the thinnest floor standing speakers I have seen. This makes it ideal if you are short on space and want to get a couple of speakers that come in well under 300 bucks. The overall design is pretty cool and unassuming so I am sure this would blend into any room.

As well as your standard drivers this speaker also has a built in subwoofer which should help give it that extra kick. Now I cannot personally speak on how it sounds, but if you were to get the settings just right on your receiver I think you would be happy. The top of the speaker does actually have a dock for your smart device which I thought was pretty cool and I can see that the actual speaker itself has some settings for you to tinker with so you get the best sound. If you want a speaker that can connect to your phone or tablet so you can listen to Spotify or whatever then this is well worth considering. It does also have the standard jacks on the back.

What Other People Are Saying

As I have not had the pleasure to test this speaker myself I decided to see what actual customers on Amazon  had to say about it. To be honest the reviews are a mixed bag and the general build quality seems to be called into question. Which at this price I am not 100 percent surprised by One reviewer did say this, “Middle speaker doesn’t work on mine. Bluetooth works great. Good buy for the price, but I wouldn’t buy another one.” I take this to mean that they had a problem with a faulty speaker and that they did not play around with the settings enough.

If you want to get a cheap speaker that allows Bluetooth connectivity as well as the standard connection options. I do feel that the VENLOIC Music Floor Standing Bluetooth Tower Speaker with Subwoofer is worth a look. It is nice and compact and it does have a lot of sound options for you to play with. Just make sure if you get it the one that you get is properly made and that everything works on it.

7. Frisby FS-6600BT 5.1 Channel Stereo Home Theater System

7. Frisby FS-6600BT 5.1 Channel Stereo Home Theater System

Pros:

  • Nice glossy finish
  • Price is very reasonable
  • Surround sound for movies
  • Bluetooth connectivity

Cons:

  • That gloss finish can get messy
  • Build quality may not be the best

Last, of all I have this which I think is pretty interesting. I have put this on here as I know that some folks want to get an all in one sound system and this one here actually comes with four floor standing speakers, a center speaker, and a subwoofer. The subwoofer acts as the main thing where you can change the volume, tinker with the sound and even use memory cards to play music from. It does also have Bluetooth connectivity so you can stream music from your smart device. You get all of this for around 200 bucks and it actually has a very nice glossy finish, which I like, but if you have kids they will get fingerprints all over it. The subwoofer has a nice lighting effect on it too which I think is pretty cool.

Now as you are getting five speakers and a subwoofer all for under 200 bucks you have to be realistic about the sound you are going to get out of these. I have not tested this, but I would assume that you would have to play around with the settings to get the sound to a point that you really like this. This is not a deal breaker and at this price range, you have to expect that. I do feel that for someone on a budget or someone who wants an all in one home theater system that this is well worth taking a closer look at.

What Other People Are Saying

I had a really good look online and there is not actually a whole lot of reviews out there for this set. The best place I found was actually Amazon . What I found interesting about the reviews was that this currently is rated at three stars out of five. I thought for sure that the negative comments would be about the sound, but that is not the case. People seem to like the sound. One lady gave it a 5 star review and had this to say, “All the speakers play beautifully and the sound is perfect. So happy with my surround system”. The negatives come from people having problems with the build quality of the speakers so that it something to watch for.

I think that the Frisby FS-6600BT 5.1 Channel Stereo Home Theater System has a cool and modern design. If you want a system that is going to let you watch movies with surround sound, stream music and look cool while doing so. I think this is well worth taking a closer look at. The build quality has been brought into question, but I am actually very impressed people seem so happy with the sound quality of these speakers.

What Are The Best Floor Standing Speakers Under $300?

I love getting the chance to test out new speakers and I was actually happy with all of the ones that I got to play around with. I will say that at this price range you more than likely will have to play around with the settings to get the best sound quality possible out of them. I do though have two that I feel were a cut above the rest. First is the Polk Audio T50 Home Theater and Music Floor Standing Tower Speaker.

While this is a single speaker so you will have to buy two, they still come in at under 300 bucks. The sound quality is fantastic and they have the Polk Audio quality about them. The other ones I really liked were the Dayton Audio T652 Dual 6-1/2″ 2-Way Tower Speakers. Granted these do take a little tinkering with to get just right, but they are awesome speakers.

So there you have it, the best floor standing speakers under $300. Have fun looking for the right speakers for your setup and make sure you play around with the settings to get the sound that you deserve! If you like to get something much better at just under $500, check out the Floorstanding Speakers under $500.
