Yamaha and Samsung are both known for their premium quality products, their soundbars being one of them. So, buckle up! As today it’s Yamaha YAS-209 vs Samsung Q600A. This is a spicy one. Plus, if you’re on a budget and looking for soundbars under 400$ then take a look at the 5 Best Soundbars under $400. Now back to the battle of the best. In a nutshell the Samsung Q600A is better than Yamaha YAS-209 but it’s not the same for everyone as everyone’s requirements are different and maybe Yamaha-209 suits most of you better. But to find that out you have to continue reading.

Design:

Design is one of the most major aspects to take in view when comparing two products. The Yamaha YAS-209 has two main components, the subwoofer and the soundbar. Both of the components are weighty itself. The size of YAS-209 is perfect enough to sit nicely near your Tv unit. The subwoofer is 442cm tall and 19cm wide while the soundbar is just under a metre long. The wireless subwoofer adds more energy to the bass and is usually not included in cheaper models. The YAS-209 has many features like Bluetooth, Alexa and Clear Voice mode. Every time the features are changed, the LED light above the soundbar changes color to indicate it. This adds some character to it. In the Yamaha YAS-209’s box you will find a remote controller, HDMi cable, and power adapter.

On the other hand, the Samsung Q600A is a modified version HW-Q60T from the previous year and the design is slightly different to Q700A. It weighs 7.5 lbs. and is 980.0 x 58.0 x 105.0 mm. Q600A is lighter and fits perfectly under a 55’ television or bigger. Its best to spruce up your entertainment center as it would fit perfectly. Samsung has always focused on the interior then the exterior. The subwoofer of Samsung Q600A is similar to the Q700A, so there won’t be many surprises there. Its’s size is 205.0 x 353.0 x 302.0 mm and weighs 12.8 lbs. It has a LED screen which shows the pairing status however it is very small to show any feature changes. it supports Dolby Atmos content. Overall, its relatively small size takes an advantage as it won’t be a problem to find a place to fit it. There’s not much to say about the design cause it’s more of a typical Samsung soundbar design. In the Samsung Q600A’s box you’ll find a Remote Controller, HDMi Cable, Wallmount Kit, Battery for Remote Controller and Power Adapter.

The Verdict:

In my perspective and upon reviewing, the Yamaha YAS-209 takes the lead in the battle of design. Even though the Samsung Q600A better built, the Yamaha YAS-209 is much more sleeker looking. The Yamaha YAS-209 is heavier than the Samsung Q600A however it makes up with its gleaming exterior. The LED on the Samsung is very small and doesn’t show any changes in the feature however the LED lights on the Yamaha YAS-209 indicates feature changes which makes it much better exterior design wise.

Sound Quality:

The Yamaha YAS-209 has done a pretty great job living up to their promise of 3D sound by featuring DTS Virtual: X. It does not give the same impact as a fully surrounded sound system but it’s great for movie, TV or gaming modes. The Clear Voice mode enhances the conversation on-screen and it helps the TV mode which is very well-balanced and increases the background noises without muffling the on-screen speech. The music on this is perfectly well-balanced as you can play with the volume bar on the subwoofer and adjust it according to your preferences. As Yamaha YAS-209 is Bluetooth-enabled and can be connected to Wi-Fi, you can stream music with Spotify or any other platform and make your experience better.

However, the Samsung Q600A has a very well-balanced yet neutral sound profile with an additional effect of low frequency. Even though it is suitable to listen to variety of content, it does not produce loud bass. The Samsung Q600A has many sound customization features, one of them being the graphic equalizer. Along with graphic equalizer, it has many equalizer presets like: Standard, Game, Surround, and a special feature called Adaptive Sound. It analyzes the input audio and optimizes its overall performance, while enhancing the on-screen conversation. The acoustic panel has great dynamic and the soundbar itself, has excellent center channel performance due to its built-in speakers.

The Verdict:

In the battle of the best sound quality, the Samsung Q600A takes the lead as it got a rating of 8 out of 10 while Yamaha YAS-209 got the rating of 6 out of 10. Even though Yamaha has more extended low-bass, Q600A has more sound enhancement features, too, including a graphic EQ and auto-volume mode. Both Yamaha YAS-209 and Samsung Q600A have the output power of 200W and both soundbars have active amplification type. The Q600A supports Dolby Atmos content which makes it far better.

Price:

Both of the organizations, Yamaha and Samsung, well-reputed and very successful that’s why their products may come off as pricy. However, the Samsung Q600A is above the S and T series and is said to be the most affordable soundbar in the Samsung’s premium Q-series. As Samsung focuses to appeal to all consumers no matter the budget restraints it has come up the most extensive yearly soundbar lineups. The Q600A hovers around a 600$ mark and yes, I know it’s very pricy compared to many other soundbars in the market but in the Q-series it is the cheapest one.

Meanwhile Yamaha is cheaper than the Samsung’s Q600A but it is much more expensive than Yamaha Music Cast Bar 400 and in comparison, with other Yamaha soundbars, much more sophistically set-up.  The Yamaha YAS-209 has a RRP of £$449 and is available from distributers like Amazon and Currys.

Which is better? Yamaha YAS-209 or Samsung Q600A?

The Samsung HW-Q600A is a better overall soundbar than the Yamaha YAS-209. The Samsung is a 3.1.2 setup that’s better-built and comes with a discrete center channel. Unlike the Yamaha, it supports Dolby Atmos content, and it comes with a graphic EQ for sound customization. It also gets louder. However, only the Yamaha supports Wi-Fi and has built-in voice assistant support. However, the Samsung Q600A is cheaper and had better sound quality. It proved to be worth its price and won the overall battle.
