Best Bluetooth Speakers Under 150

The 6 Best Bluetooth Speakers Under $150 In 2022

Today we are taking a look at what is the best Bluetooth speaker under $150. While most of the speakers we have done on this site are for your more “traditional” style of speakers. I must admit that more and more people I know would rather stream music from their phone via Spotify, YouTube, or whatever and not bother with physical medial. While I myself will never stop collecting vinyl I will admit that the whole world seems to be embracing a digital future more and more which is why there are so many Bluetooth speakers available.

While I am 100 percent a guy who still has a massive collection of vinyl, CDs, and even cassette tapes, by the way never bring the cassette tapes up to my wife that is a real breaking point for her! I must admit that if I am out in the garden or working in the garage, up in the attic that having a Bluetooth speaker is very convenient and a hell of a lot better than my phone’s speakers!

Know What You Are Getting

The amount of Bluetooth speakers on the market right now is crazy. You can pretty much get them anywhere and it can be hard to know what one is right for you. With that being said I want you to know that while we are looking at a selection that I feel are in the running for the best Bluetooth speaker under $150 award. I must admit that the quality of these things is all over the place so be sure to do as much homework on a speaker that you find interesting as possible.

Also, for a bit of extra fun, I will be giving you an album recommendation with each speaker review too.

2: JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle

3: Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker

4: Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

5: Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker

6: Altec Lansing LifeJacket XL Jolt

Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker

Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker IP67 Waterproof BLUETOOTH and Built In Mic for Phone Calls, Black

You cannot go wrong with a Sony is something that I always say and this Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker is something I have used many, many times. The version that I have is the black one, but this is available in other colors such as a really cool-looking purple. It is currently priced right at about the 150 bucks mark so it is at the top end of our price limit. It is very compact and weighs only around 1KG so it is perfect if you are traveling. I also want to mention the battery life this thing has; it can last up to 24 hours off a single charge!

While this looks cool, has an awesome battery life and is very compact in its design. For something so small, this has a real kick to the sound quality. It has an “extra bass” feature that lets you play it extra loud so if you are hanging out in the garden having a party, this can more than fill the party with the music of your choosing. The sound is very, very impressive, but I want to go back to the design. This thing is made with getting dirty and dropped in mind. It is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof!

What Other People Are Saying

Check out this awesome 10-minute video review that showcases this Bluetooth speaker very well. You watch this and you know why it is in the running for the best Bluetooth speaker under $150. Also, the reception to this on Amazon is amazing. It currently has over 7 thousand customer reviews and 93 percent of these are for four or five stars!

Music Recommendation

En Vivo! [2 CD][Explicit]

The album that I am going to recommend to you guys is the epic En Vivo! by Iron Maiden. This is a live album from a gig they did in Chile a few years back. I love this album as it is so awesome. If you like listening to it here, you may want to check out the physical release of the album too, I highly recommend getting it on vinyl.

As someone who actually purchased and paid for the Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker I can hand on heart say that I have no regrets about my purchase at all. The sound quality is great for a speaker at this price range and even at loud volumes, it is nice and clear. It also looks cool and is designed to take a lot of abuse from listening to it outside.

Pros:

  • It comes in different colors
  • I liked the little LED light
  • The sound packs a real punch
  • This thing has an amazing battery life

Cons:

  • It is close to our 150 bucks price limit
  • Some of the colors do look a bit strange

JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle

JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle with Boomph Portable Hard Protective Carrying Case - Green

You cannot be on a quest for the best Bluetooth speaker under $150 and not have a JBL speaker on the list. I think that this JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle is really cool and at just under 140 bucks is fantastic value for money. The version that I got to play around with was the green one, but other colors are available. This has the added bonus of coming with a case to keep the speaker safe in which I really liked. This gives you up to 20 hours of playback, so you can pretty much have a full day of partying and rocking out with this thing.

As far as the sound quality goes, I was impressed. This offers a nice balanced sound and while it may lack that rocking base the Sony one has we just looked at. Even at higher volumes, this offered a nice and clear sound, and to be fair the bass is not bad at all. It is designed with being used outdoors at places like a pool party or a BBQ and I do not think anyone would complain about the sound quality this produces. It is also worth noting that this is waterproof and it is designed with this cool “rough” finish that is there to protect the speaker in case you drop it. In all, it is very well made.

What Other People Are Saying

I found a nice and quick video review that showcases this very well. This video actually speaks quite highly of the bass so that is something to think about. If you look online the majority of stuff you read about this Bluetooth speaker is going to be positive. Even on Amazon, the customer reviews on there are at over 90 percent for positive reviews!

Music Recommendation

Tron Legacy 10 year anniversary

One album that I love is the Tron Legacy Soundtrack which is done by Daft Punk. This is one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time and when people talk about Daft Punk this does not get the attention it deserves. If you are a hardcore vinyl collector check out this awesome Tron Legacy 10 year anniversary record which costs close to 200 bucks!

I have had the pleasure to check out many JBL Bluetooth speakers over the years and I think that this JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle would be a fantastic purchase. The actual speaker does everything that you would want a Bluetooth speaker to do. Also, the fact it comes with a handy carrying case is a very, very nice bonus.

Pros:

  • It can be purchased in different colors
  • It produces a very clear sound
  • This thing is built like a tank!
  • They also give you a stylish carrying case to keep it safe

Cons:

  • The bass is good, but lacked that bit of raw power
  • It can be a pain getting the charging cable in the case!

Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker

Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker with Microphone- Soft Black

Next up we have this very interesting-looking Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker. I will admit that the black version of this (other colors are available) I was sent to review kind of reminded me of a slightly larger mid to late 90s pager! This thing is very compact, it only stands five inches in height and weighs around a pound so it is great for taking on the go. The battery life is not that great as it gives you 8 hours off a single charge. Ok, so 8 hours is a long time, but the other two we just looked at give you a full day. The asking price for this (as I write this of course) is around the 130 bucks mark which is not bad.

Sound-wise I was happy with what I was hearing. To be fair, Bose has yet to disappoint me with any of their products when it comes to the sound and this keeps that trend. The vocals were nice and clear and the bass had just that right amount of kick. It is made to be used outside so you do not have to worry when it gets wet or when one of the kids gets too rough with it. One feature that I thought was really cool, but I was not able to test out was how you can have two of these and they will then produce stereo sound! That is actually something I am very interested to check out.

What Other People Are Saying

As is the case with most Bose products the reception to this is very positive, hence why it is on our list looking for the best Bluetooth speaker under $150. On Amazon, there are over 38 thousand (yes that many!) customer reviews and as of writing 92 percent of these are positive. If you want to see this in action check out this video review which is great to see how this thing actually works.

Music Recommendation

I was feeling some hip-hop at the time I wrote this so my recommendation to you guys is actually a playlist and it is this awesome Up In Smoke Tour Playlist that features artists from the iconic Up In Smoke Tour that took place in 2000.

If you want a Bluetooth speaker that can handle the roughness that comes with outdoor listening you cannot go wrong with this looking Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker. It ticks the majority of boxes when it comes to what I would personally be looking for in a good Bluetooth speaker at this price range.

Pros:

  • It can certainly take a lot of punishment
  • The sound is nice and loud
  • You can select from a few different colors
  • I like the idea of liking two of these together for stereo sound

Cons:

  • I am not a huge fan of the boxy design it has
  • If you were to link two together, that would be rather expensive

Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Black (New Model, 100

Next up we have this Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker which I have, to be honest, and say that I am not 100 percent sure I like the design of. It has a kind of router-like style in my opinion. This as I write this is priced at 140 bucks, but there is a purple version of this which goes for way more which is weird. It is easy enough to pair to your phones and it has a few physical buttons along the top that I wish did not have white on them as they can stick out like a sore thumb.

This has around 8 hours of playback time off a single charge which seems to be about average for these things. This may not be exactly packing a ton of wattage, but I was impressed by the overall power and clarity of this and that is why I felt that it needed to be on our best Bluetooth speaker under $150 list. It does what it does very well, but I have to say I am not sure I would want to be using this thing outside as it does not have a super solid build and it is not water-resistant.

What Other People Are Saying

If you look over at the customer reviews on Amazon, this Bluetooth speaker is very popular. There are currently over 5 thousand reviews and a very impressive 94 percent of these are positive. I found a pretty interesting video review that shows off this thing pretty well as giving you a great idea of what the sound quality this provides is.

Music Recommendation

Cross Road [2 LP]

I am going with Cross Road by Bon Jovi. Yes, Bon Jovi has had other greatest hits albums and compilations, but this one which was released in the mid-90s truly captured the 80s Bon Jovi that I loved, not to mention gave us the anthem that is Always. You can get this on CD for dirt cheap, but it is worth noting that there is also a 2 disc vinyl of this album.

I know it seems like I have not exactly been enthusiastic about the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, but this is a damn fine Bluetooth speaker. It sounds good and if you want something that you can use in the house and it is going to have a permeant spot, I am sure it will be fine.

Pros:

  • The sound quality is good
  • I was impressed with the bass it offered
  • It can kind of blend into an entertainment center
  • The price is very fair

Cons:

  • I am not a massive fan of the design
  • It is not suitable for being used outdoors

Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Black

I have to say that I freaking love the design of this Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker. It looks like the kind of thing that you would use with a cheap electric guitar and that is clearly what they were going for with the aesthetic of this. I think the $129.99 asking price is great and the form factor this thing offers is nice and compact, but if you ask me this thing deserves to be out on display for the whole world to see as it has such a cool design.

This has a tremendous battery as off a single charge it can give you 20 plus hours of playback time. A short 20-minute charge can give you as much as 5-hour playback. While it looks like the kind of thing you would have sitting on a shelf in your living room. This is actually suitable to be taken outside as it is water-resistant and has a really rugged design that can take a fair bit of punishment. I was so impressed with the look that the sound took me by surprise. This thing offers a full and rich kind of sound. I blasted some Guns n Roses at full volume through this thing and I was blown away by the clarity of it.

What Other People Are Saying

I love this video that shows this off and it also shows it off next to its bigger brothers. You get a good sense of the build quality and the sound that this offers from this video so be sure to check it out. As of writing this as 92 percent four- and five-star reviews. There are over 1000 reviews on Amazon so this has a very positive reputation online which I always like to see.

Music Recommendation

Leftoverture

With its old-school style, I wanted some real classic rock to recommend to you guys and that is why I have gone for The Best Of,  by Kansas. Carry on my Wayward Son is a firm favorite of mine! As of writing Amazon actually has Leftoverture which is the album that song is from available on vinyl for under 20 bucks!

As you can tell, I love the Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker. It is such an awesome speaker and I would happily have this sitting on a shelf in my office. It looks so cool, but the sound it gives you is fantastic, not to mention the amazing battery that this is offering you. This is a real contender to be the best Bluetooth speaker under $150.

Pros:

  • This has a very cool and retro style
  • I was very impressed with the sound
  • This is made to be used anywhere!
  • The battery in this is amazing

Cons:

  • That retro style may not be to everyone’s taste
  • Is retro style when it comes to audio equipment played out?

Altec Lansing LifeJacket XL Jolt

Altec Lansing LifeJacket XL Jolt with Lights, Built In Qi Wireless Charger, Waterproof, Snowproof, Shockproof and it Floats in Water, Up to 20 Hour Battery Life, Black

Here we have the Altec Lansing LifeJacket XL Jolt which I have not had the pleasure to test out personally, but when I was lurking around on Amazon it caught my eye. This is priced at $116 so it is well under our 150 bucks price limit. It was the style that caught my attention as it has a very unique thing going on. Clearly, this is designed with being taken wherever you go. I say this because it has a handle and not only is it waterproof, it can even float in water!

It has some pretty funky looking LED lights that really make this great for a party, it also helps you keep track of where the heck it is if you are partying outside! It offers you 20 hours of playback from a charge which is awesome. There is not a ton of information about the tech specs in regards to what is powering this. However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt as this is designed with being played at a party in mind.

What Other People Are Saying

First up, if you look at Amazon where they have the customer reviews for this thing, it has around 700 and just under 90 percent are positive reviews which I think is not too bad at all. I also found this video review which is great as it shows you just how well built this thing is.

Music Recommendation

World Clique

When I look at this speaker I just think of a wild party where everyone is having a great time. So, I am going old-school with this music recommendation as I am picking World Clique by 90s party hitmakers, Deee-Lite, you know that you love Groove Is In The Heart! You can get this album on vinyl, but it is going to cost you around 40 bucks. The thing is when this came out, many of us (I know I was) were starting to join the CD revolution that was taking place.

The Altec Lansing LifeJacket XL Jolt is really, really cool and I would love to get my hands on this to have a closer look. I think if you want a Bluetooth speaker that you can take anywhere you go and not have to worry about it getting damaged, this would be perfect for your music needs!

Pros:

  • It has some cool LEDs
  • You can connect up to 50 devices to this in house party mode
  • It is built like a tank
  • You can get up to 20 hours of battery life from a single charge

Cons:

  • That style is a bit boxy
  • The rubber feel may give you the creeps when you touch it

I do also want to give a special mention to the JBL Charge 4 Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Bundle and the Marshall Emberton Portable Bluetooth Speaker, both of which I think are great too.
