The Jamo S809 price is as impressive as its design. It costs $400 on Amazon.

The verdict:

If you are searching for affordable and well-performing speakers, then you are much better off with the Jamo S809. They are over half the price of the Klipsch R-625FA.

The design and build

The Jamo S809 gives off that Scandinavian interior design feel. They feature three woofers in a 6.5-inch casing.

All the woofers plus the tweeter all work in tandem. And if you are wondering why you should get yourself, floor-standing speakers, the design works well to reduce interference by additional units.

Due to the low frequency reflecting the technology of the JamoS809, it also offers much deeper lows of up to 37Hz.

The pair speakers all use a 1-inch tweeter that can deduce high pitch effects of up to 26Khz. The result is great sound that is sure to make those movie nights worth it.

The Jamo S809 speaker subwoofers have a synthetic fiber cone that is 10 inches in diameter and are powered by a Class D amplifier. This allows the subwoofer to offer a power output of 150W.

The speakers also have a low-frequency reflection port that offers backward radiation to reduce noise especially when you have your volume up.

The Klipsch R-625FA, unlike the Jamo S809, has a black glossy exterior and a metal grille at the front. They also feature a stand-up speaker design.

One thing you should know is that these speakers are not very light and weigh 22 kilograms or 48.5 pounds. These are not exactly the type of speakers you would consider to be portable so keep that in mind if you are in the market for them.

The speaker enclosure has not just forward-facing speakers but upward-facing speakers as well. Still wondering whether their price is justified? It is the upward-facing speakers that are responsible for the surround sound.

The front-facing speakers have a 6.5-inch Injection Moulded Graphite cones. This results in a perfect balance between a lightweight and a rigid speaker.

There is also a horn-loaded tweeter pairing with both the front and upward-facing speakers. But alas! The tweeters in the Klipsch R-625FA are better known as electromechanical loudspeakers.

What sets them apart from regular tweeters is that they can produce much higher frequency sounds compared to tweeter their size.

What’s more, they are durable as they are constructed out of aluminum. Combine the three sets of speakers – the woofers, the tweeters, and the horns and you have unrivaled sound quality where the whole sound spectrum is represented.

Let’s not forget that the Klipsch R-625FA has Dolby Atmos technology which means you get 3D sound effects.

The verdict:

The Klipsch R-625FA is the clear winner when it comes to design and build. It has upward-facing speakers and looks great with its smooth glossy finish. Plus it has Dolby Atmos tech which means great 3D sound.

Connectivity and set up

You can connect the Klipsch R-625FA speakers to either an amplifier or a receiver with just a regular speaker wire. But if you want to bring out the best out of the speakers, you should consider using a 10 gauge wire.

On the flip side, you are not able to connect via Bluetooth with the Klipsch R-625FA. However, this may not be a big issue considering that current wireless technology and Bluetooth would not be able to offer the level of performance that the speakers are capable of.

The Klipsch is best suited for a larger room. That said, if you have a smaller room you can still optimize the speakers by bringing them away from the walls and getting rid of any items or objects close to the speakers that would bounce off the sounds.

The same concept can be applied when setting up the Jamo S809. You should ensure that they are away from the wall and at least 8 feet apart on either side of your TV.

It’s always a good idea to utilize the bass port at the bottom of the speakers to optimize the low-frequency sounds. This way, you can also make the most of the WaveGuide technology. This feature focuses high frequencies to produce realistic sounds.

Furthermore, you are also able to utilize the front-firing tube for more bass. To enhance the surround sound, you can connect an S 8 ATM Dolby Atmos Elevation speaker.

The design of the Jamo S809 allows wires to be connected at the back which means no unsightly wires and more fun and immersive experience.

The verdict:

As far as connectivity goes, both speakers perform well. They are quick and easy to set up and the Jamo for instance ensures no unsightly wires running across your entertainment system.

Performance and output

When it’s all said and done, everything comes down to how the speakers perform. The Jamo S809 will not disappoint you as it offers clear crisp sounds with decent bass. You will often find this speaker ideal when listening to your favorite music with its balanced sounds and moderately wide field.

The midrange is decent but once you get to the lower levels of the midrange you start to notice a slight squeeze.

The Jamo S809 has good bass. It will make listening to your favorite hip hop or thumpy music highly fun. Let’s not forget that it has a good amount of power with each speaker providing up to 150 watts.

The Klipsch R-625FA is simply on another level when it comes to performance and output. It sounds incredible!

Dolby Atmos technology is great but when it comes from a pair of powerful and well-balanced speakers such as these it sounds even better.

Whether you are listening to thumpy music or high-frequency sounds, everything comes out clear and precise, But when watching movies is where the Klipsch R-625FA speakers shine. They provide a truly immersive experience making you feel like you are in the movie itself.

The verdict:

The Klipsch R-625A takes the win with its outstanding performance and well-balanced sounds. It offers deep basses and the powerful speakers enhance Dobly Atmos for great 3D output.

The Verdict

The Jamo S809 is an affordable set of speakers with decent output. Plus you can connect an S 8 Dolby Atmos speaker for a more enhanced surround sound. If you are tight on a budget but still want to improve your home entertainment system, you will certainly not go wrong with the Jamo S809

But for a much more enhanced entertainment experience, in comes the Klipsch R-625FA. The speakers are powerful and are better suited for a larger room. That is not to say you can’t make them work with a smaller room though.

If you have a little extra to spend then you are much better off with the Klipsch R-625FA. Plus it takes Dolby Atmos to a whole new level
