When you go to a place like Walmart or some electronics store, 9/10 it will be Bluetooth speakers that they have. A Bluetooth speaker has many things going for it. To start with, most of the time they are designed with portability in mind. Meaning you can take them wherever you need to go. Batteries have really come into their own and there are many that can give you a full day of use! Bluetooth speakers are often made with being abused in mind so they tend to have a strong body and many are even waterproof too!

The Best Bluetooth Speaker Under $400 Reviews

I have five different speakers for you to consider here. Three of these I have managed to test myself and the other to just had a style that I thought was so cool, I had to put them on this list.

  1. Bose Portable Home Speaker
  2. Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
  3. Samsung Sound Tower MX-T50
  4. Vifa Helsinki Bluetooth Speaker
  5. DemerBox: Bluetooth Speakers

1. Bose Portable Home Speaker

If you checked out my Bose Soundbar 500 vs Bose Soundbar 700 article you know that I am a massive fan of what Bose does. So as soon as I was putting this best Bluetooth speaker under $400 article together I knew that this Bose Portable Home Speaker had to be on it. This is priced at $378, but this version I have selected here also comes with the charging cradle which is very convenient, you can buy this without the charging cradle for $349. This weighs just over two pounds and its dimensions are 4.09 x 4.69 x 7.56 inches so it is perfect if you want a speaker that is portable.

The design of this thing kind of has a lantern thing going on. I say that because of the handle, the idea being you can take this anywhere. The sound is awesome and it feels like it is coming out of every angle of the speaker. It is a very cool effect and I was most impressed with the amount of raw bass this thing provided. Even at louder volumes, your music is very clear and sounds great. You can control this with your phone, but you do have buttons on the actual speaker you can use too. You get around 12 hours of battery life from a single charge and for most people that will be more than fine.

What Other People Are Saying

This over at Amazon currently has 89 percent when it comes to positive customer reviews and this is from over 1700 customer reviews so people really do like this speaker. Be sure to have a look at this review with sound test which gives you an idea of the size of this thing and also you can hear what the sound is like too. From what I have encountered, those who have used this to seem to think very highly of it.

Bose Portable Smart Speaker Review with Sound Test

I have used the Bose Portable Home Speaker in my own home and in the backyard and have found it to be a fantastic Bluetooth speaker. I think it is very well made (even though it is only water resistant and not waterproof) and it has that Bose quality about it that as soon as you touch it, you know you are touching quality. Above all else, the sound this produces is great, even at louder volumes. No matter if you are working in the house or playing in the backyard, this will serve you well.

Pros:

  • I like the lantern design this thing has
  • This bundle does include the charging cradle
  • It sounds fantastic, even at very high volumes
  • This thing has an impressive 12 hour battery life

Cons:

  • It is only water resistant not waterproof
  • That lantern design I like, may not be something you think is cool

2. Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Here on the site, we have looked at a few other Marshall speakers, but now we are checking out the Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. This is one of the more expensive ones that Marshall offers as it is priced at $331, so it is expensive, but still very much under our limit as we look for the best Bluetooth speaker under $400. What gets you with this is that design. Marshall makes some of the coolest looking retro speakers on the market right now and this is one of their very best. This is the kind of thing I am sure my grandparents would have used back in the day. It has that old school charm, but in a very modern style. This stands at 13.78 x 7.68 x 7.28 inches and it weighs around 10 pounds. The thing is, this is not a portable speaker, this has no battery and it is designed to be put in one spot and used there. As well as Bluetooth, this does also have an RCA jack so you can connect other things to this. The Marshall app is great for using this, but the actual speaker does have three dials on the top.

This thing just sounds awesome, when I have used this (and other Marshall products) you just get a really old school kind of vibe from the sound. It is rich, it is full and everything I have played through here sounds great. Plus, you have direct control over things like the bass and the treble so it is perfect if you want a speaker that you can set just the way you want. It is the kind of speaker that would go great with a vintage style record player.

What Other People Are Saying

Be sure to check out this Marshall STANMORE II Bluetooth – Review of The Most Versatile Home Speaker which does a fantastic job of showing just how great this Bluetooth speaker is. From the way it looks, the app, and the sound, this video gives you a great look at what you can expect from this speaker. In terms of the customer reviews on Amazon, this as of writing has 2881 customer reviews and 92 percent of these are positive reviews so the reception is mostly positive.

Marshall STANMORE II Bluetooth – Review of The Most Versatile Home Speaker

The Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is the third or fourth speaker from Marshall that I have checked out and I think this may be my favorite. It has a very cool look that is perfect if you like retro electronics. It sounds great and I love how easy the app is to use and the fact it has dials on the actual speaker gives you a lot of control. It is not portable so that may be a knock on it, but if you want a speaker that is going to have a permanent spot in your home this is great.

Pros:

  • I love that Marshall retro design!
  • It is built very well
  • You have dials on the speaker for bass and treble
  • It really does sound great, even when the music is loud

Cons:

  • That power switch feels a little weak to me!
  • This is not a portable speaker, so it does have to be plugged in all the time

3. Samsung Sound Tower MX-T50

Next up we have this very interesting looking Samsung Sound Tower MX-T50. This is the “middle” speaker in this line as there is a cheaper and more expensive model. This one is priced at $397.99 so it is right at the top end of our 400 bucks price limit. This thing has a very monolithic type of thing, you know kind of like the thing from 2001 A Space Odyssey or the Marker from Dead Space.  This is pretty damn tall at 12.7 x 13.8 x 25.6 inches and it does weigh over 20 pounds. This is not exactly “portable” as it does require mains power to operate. It has a water resistant top so if you do have this outside and you spill a drink it is not a big deal. The Bluetooth on this thing is great and you can connect two phones at once to it which is pretty neat. On the top of the speaker, you have buttons that can let you do things like turn on the bass, change volume, and so on. You also have red/white jacks, an aux port, and two USB ports on the back too.

This thing packs a serious punch! It has 500 watts of power and I like my music loud, but even I had to turn this down. The way it is so loud would make this great for a party as the sound feels like it comes from every inch of the speaker due to the interesting triangle design. It also has LED lights so that makes it double perfect for a party! While I only used my phone to play around with this and I was very impressed with the sound quality. You can also connect this to your Wi-Fi if that is more your thing. In all this is fantastic and it could be the best Bluetooth speaker under $400 if you want something that can go that extra mile when it comes to loudness.

What Other People Are Saying

I found this short and to the point video showcase that showcases this speaker off pretty well. If you just want to see what it looks like next to a person and get a better idea of what it offers, be sure to watch this video. On Amazon, there are only a little over 100 customer reviews for this thing which I am kind of surprised at considering how popular Samsung are. Anyway, it is sitting at 86 percent four and five star reviews so the majority of people do seem to like this according to Amazon.

Samsung MXT50 Party Speaker

I really like what Samsung has done here. The Samsung Sound Tower MX-T50 may be close to our price limit, but I feel that this is arguably the best Bluetooth speaker under $400 if you want something larger, louder, and with more raw power. It is a very well-made speaker; it has a cool look and I had a great deal of fun putting this thing through its paces.

Pros:

  • I love the triangle style design it has
  • This is one of the loudest speakers on this list!
  • The sound will fill any room or area you have this in
  • It gives you many options in terms of connectivity

Cons:

  • It is very close to our 400 bucks price limit
  • It may be a tad too large for some people

4. Vifa Helsinki Bluetooth Speaker

I wanted some different looking speakers on our best Bluetooth speaker under $400 list. That is why we have this Vifa Helsinki Bluetooth Speaker on here. This is a company I am not too familiar with, but it certainly caught my attention and I would love to get my hands on it one day. The version I have picked here is the black one, but there are four other colors available. The design is very interesting, it kind of looks like a bag (which I think is intentional) and it has that handle so you can carry it wherever you go. At 8.3 x 2.8 x 6 inches and just over 3 pounds, it is going to be very easy to move around the house or backyard. All of the colors are priced the same at $349.99 which is decent.

The battery life of this is said to be around 8 hours which is not bad, but others do offer more. At the end of the day, 8 hours is probably more than you will use it for a whole day. While the design caught my attention, it was reading about the tech inside that captured my attention. This is designed to pack a real punch, but with an elegant style. They state that it has some great stereo sound and that the sound will be as real as possible. If you know about speakers, you will see that the design of this is very clever, they have clearly tried to get as much power and clarity as they can in this compact shape.

What Other People Are Saying

There are not a ton of customer reviews for this on Amazon, as of me writing, there are 40 customer reviews for this. The four and five star reviews are only at a bit over 70 percent which is a bit disappointing to see if I am being honest. However, I read all of these reviews and the bad ones seem to be mainly from people who got a defective unit. I really liked this video unboxing and review which shows how cool and elegant this thing is, as well as what comes in the box. You also get a good idea of how this thing sounds too.

New Vifa Helsinki – Black Edition ( 2020 ) Unboxing – [ Best Portable Bluetooth Speaker ].

One of the best things about getting to review speakers is that I come across stuff like this Vifa Helsinki Bluetooth Speaker. I may not have had the pleasure to use this myself, but from what I have seen I do think that there are a lot of positives with this, the design is very classy, but it is what is inside that make this a Bluetooth speaker I really want to check out for myself.

Pros:

  • It can be purchased in five different colors and they are all the same price!
  • The design of this is very cool
  • It is designed to be loud and clear
  • This is the kind of thing that would look great on a shelf

Cons:

  • The customer reviews on Amazon are not exactly glowing
  • The kind of “fabric” design may not be to your taste

5. DemerBox: Bluetooth Speakers

What the heck is this? Is that a speaker? These are questions I was asking myself when I came across this DemerBox: Bluetooth Speakers while browsing Amazon looking for the best Bluetooth speaker under $400. This comes in four different colors, but the one I like is the green. The reason I like this one is that it gives this the look of a case you would find in a video game like Call of Duty! It looks like some kind of explosive or another piece of military equipment. The whole design is all about taking punishment, they say you can use this anywhere, even in the pool as with the ports plugged up, it is waterproof. It is priced at around $359 (the green one) but the other colors are priced a tad cheaper at $349.

The dimension of this are 10 x 7 x 10.5 inches and it weighs around 10 pounds, but it can weigh more. How can it weigh more? Well, this thing opens up and has some internal storage. How crazy is that? I think it is kind of cool, but you have to wonder why or who needs this. It is designed to be used at louder volumes and features two speakers and a subwoofer which you can see on the front of it. So, I have no doubt it will pack some serious kick. The battery life is a phenomenal 40 hours off a single charge, plus it can even be used as a power bank to charge your phone and tablet. The whole design of this thing is just crazy, but they have made it work.

What Other People Are Saying

There are close to 500 customer reviews for this on Amazon right now and the reception is pretty positive. As of writing, this has 88 percent positive reviews and people seem to be really happy with this. Check out this quick video review where you can see it in action and how it opens up and stuff like that. By the way, on Amazon, there is an awesome video of this where they show it getting blasted with water and mustard!

Best Wireless Bluetooth Speaker that’s waterproof and super durable?!? DEMERBOX ~ REVIE

Man, this thing is pretty damn awesome and maybe I can persuade someone to get me one for Christmas. The DemerBox: Bluetooth Speakers is one of the most interesting and over the top designs I have ever seen for a Bluetooth speaker. How someone came up with this is beyond me, but man I would love to play around with this. The design and the shape remind me of this awesome Transformers lunch box I had back in 1987 and that is meant in a very complimentary way.

Pros:

  • I think the design is awesome
  • You can store stuff inside it
  • It can power other devices via USB
  • This thing will produce a very loud sound and it is built like a tank!

Cons:

  • The design may look too “lunch boxy” for some people
  • You have to remember to use the plug if you think it may get wet

What Is The Best Bluetooth Speaker Under $400?

We have looked at some great Bluetooth speakers today and I think they are all great. I really do not think there is a bad one in the bunch and from the three I personally tested; you could not go wrong with any of them. My personal favorite has to be the Bose Portable Home Speaker. With this, you get all of the stuff you would expect from a product with the Bose name. It sounds great, but it is the portability of the speaker I think puts it on top here. You can use it anywhere thanks to it being battery powered. If you want a Bluetooth speaker that is going to be in one location all the time, the Samsung Sound Tower MX-T50 may be the one you want to go with.
