Our 5 Best Bluetooth Speakers Under $200

Our 5 Best Bluetooth Speakers Under $200 (2022)

Today we are looking for the best Bluetooth speaker under $200. We recently looked at the 6 Best Bluetooth Speakers Under $150 and now we are spending an extra 50 bucks to see what that can get us. The market for Bluetooth speakers has well and truly exploded in the last decade. The fact that you can get something of this a high quality for under 200 bucks is crazy, but there are so many on the market it can be hard to know what one is right for you. Do not worry, I have cut through all the junk and found the best of the best when it comes to Bluetooth speakers under $200.

Why Would I Want A Bluetooth Speaker?

Many people blast music out of their phones these days and that can be ok, but for the most part the speakers in your phone lack that punch and can sound pretty tiny at louder volumes. Also, you do not want your phone just “out” when you are having fun! Check out this fun JBL BoomBox Unboxing & Waterproof IPX7 Pool Test video that I found, this to me is what a Bluetooth speaker is all about. They are designed to be used anywhere and take a bit of abuse, something you do not want your phone to be doing! Plus, ultimately at the end of the day, the sound quality will be way better and louder than your phone’s speaker.

The 5 Best Bluetooth Speakers Under $200 Reviews

Here is a selection of Bluetooth speakers, all of which are in the $100 to $200 price range. I think these all tick the boxes of what you should be looking for when you are on the hunt for a Bluetooth speaker under $200. All of these have their merits, but which one is the best?

1: Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker

2: JBL FLIP 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker

3: Bose SoundLink Color II

4: Monster Bluetooth Speaker

5: TREBLAB HD-Max – Big Loud Bluetooth Speaker

Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker

Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker IP67 Waterproof BLUETOOTH 24 Hour Battery and Built In Mic for Phone Calls, Blue

First up we have this fantastic Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker which I have had a lot of use out of. I have selected the blue version as this is the one I used, but three other colors are available. This is currently priced at $118 which is a damn steal. Our 8 Best Speakers Below $100 article shows that we know you can get great value for money and this is 100 percent excellent value for your money. The dimensions of this are 10.39 x 4.96 x 5.35 inches so it is great for taking on the go. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I spent a great deal of time in the backyard and I would often have this playing some tunes or a podcast. It also weighs just over 2 pounds so if you were going to the beach or somewhere, the weight along with the size makes it no trouble to travel with. It is designed to take some abuse too as it is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof!

It was the “extra bass” that attracted me to this (and the Sony name) and I think that even at louder volumes, this provides you with some excellent sounding music. It certainly has more power than I thought it would and one really cool feature of this is that you can link a bunch of these up! I do not have any complaints at all about the sound quality this thing produces. This also has an excellent battery you can get a full day out of this with a charge. You can use an accompanying app which is easy to use and it not only gives you control, but also lets you turn funky lights on and off, also connecting your phone is very easy.

What Other People Are Saying

This has a tremendous reputation online. As of writing on Amazon, this has 4508 customer reviews and an amazing 95 percent of these are for either five or four stars. I found this great video review on YouTube, but there are a ton of video reviews for this thing, and like on Amazon, the majority of these seem to be people who are very impressed with it. The few complaints that I did come across (which was not many) seemed to be from people who were unlucky and got a defective one from the factory.

As a person who loves Sony audio equipment, I went into this Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS Wireless Portable Speaker review with sky high expectations and this exceeded them. The sound quality is great, but the fact this thing could take a heat blast from Superman makes it perfect for those that need a speaker to take with them on the go. No matter if it is for camping or by the pool, this will not let you down.

Pros:

  • It has a funky and cool design
  • You can get a full day of use from a single charge
  • Despite being small, this has some really powerful sound
  • It can take a ton of punishment

Cons:

  • The bright colors may not be to everyone’s taste
  • Its compact size may mean someone can step on it (this actually happened at my house!)

JBL FLIP 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker

JBL FLIP 5 Portable Waterproof Speaker, Red

You cannot write an article on the best Bluetooth speaker under $200 and not have an offering from JBL on it! The JBL FLIP 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker fits in with the rest of the flip family perfectly. The version I got to play around with was the red one, but eight other colors are available. The asking price for this as of writing is $139 so you are a fair bit under our price limit. Like the other speakers from the Flip range, this is nice and compact coming in at under 2 pounds in weight and 3.64 x 3.6 x 8.5 inches. I love the design of this, it is waterproof and made to take a lot of punishment. I like how it has solid rubber ends, meaning that when one of the kids drops this thing, it will not break easily. The design is ideal if you plan on using this outside a lot.

This is a pretty nice upgrade from the Flip 4. To start with it has a better battery that offers you quick charging, you get around 12 hours of use out of this. It has a slightly bigger driver and wattage which gives you more power. The sound quality is very nice and I had this blasting while we had a BBQ and never heard a single complaint. From vocal clarity to the thunderous drum beats from the likes of Iron Maiden this thing sounds great. You can connect your phone to it very quickly and you have complete control over the sound that it produces. You may think that you should save a few bucks and go for the Flip 4, but I do think the upgrades this has makes it the better Bluetooth speaker.

What Other People Are Saying

What my word is not good enough for you? Just joking, you want to be as informed as possible before making a purchase so that is why I want to give you the views of some other folks too. To start with check out this JBL Flip 5 Review & Sound Test! Here you can get a better idea of the size and style of this thing as well as hear it in action.  If you look on Amazon there are currently 29,756 customer reviews, that is not a typo! While the number of reviews is impressive, the fact that 96 percent of these are positive is what is really eye-catching.

I have played around with many of the Flip speakers from JBL and I think that this JBL FLIP 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker is one of the best ones they have done. The value for money that you are getting here is amazing. It looks really fun, it is pretty much as strong as The Rock and it is going to make any party, get together or whatever that extra bit better thanks to the awesome sound quality this produces.

Pros:

  • I love the design of this thing
  • The solid rubber ends are a great way to make this even stronger
  • It is nice and loud without losing any clarity
  • There are 9 different colors for you to pick from

Cons:

  • That rubber can get a bit dirty after a while
  • Other Bluetooth speakers do offer better battery life

Bose SoundLink Color II

Bose SoundLink Color II: Portable Bluetooth, Wireless Speaker with Microphone- Soft Black

Next on our search for the best Bluetooth speaker under $200, we have this fantastic Bose SoundLink Color II. If you check out my Bose Soundbar 700 review that I did recently, you will know how much I love Bose. The version I looked at was the black one, but there are other colors, although, on Amazon, the red one is priced higher. On average though, you are looking at around $130 for this which is not a bad price at all. I love the design of this and think it looks fun and cool. It has this silicone body that is going to make sure it is able to take some punishment and it is water resistant so it can take a splashing if you have it near the pool. It weighs a little over a pound and it stands at 2.2 x 5 x 5.2 inches so it is the perfectly sized speaker if you are on the go.

Bose makes awesome stuff, but I was interested to see how this would fair. Sound wise I think that this is fine. It is not the most powerful of the Bluetooth speakers we are looking at today, but it was certainly loud enough when it was blasting this god-awful music the kids were listening to while they were messing around in the pool. I feel that Bose has done all that they could with this speaker considering its size. The Bluetooth connectivity is great and Bose has one of the best apps around when it comes to giving you control of your speaker. The battery is not the largest and as a result, you are getting 8 hours at the most when it comes to the playback.

What Other People Are Saying

If you want to see how much punishment this can take then check out this video review which I found. Here you can see just how tough this is all the while getting a better idea of the style of this and also how compact the size of it is. There are over 40 thousand… yes 40 thousand customer reviews for this thing and the reception is very, very positive with 92 percent of them being four or five stars. People really do seem to love this thing!

I have reviewed a ton of Bose products, mostly their more high-end soundbars, but this Bose SoundLink Color II shows that they can also mix it up and offer something that is much more friendly to your wallet. I know that the eight-hour battery life may be a deal breaker for some people. However, in terms of the build quality and the sound it produces, I really could not be any more impressed with what Bose have managed to do with this very small box.

Pros:

  • It has a very smart design
  • I like how the body is made from silicone to protect it
  • The compact size is great for those that want a speaker they can take anywhere
  • You have a nice selection of colors to choose from

Cons:

  • Why is the red one more expensive?
  • It does not have the best battery life

Monster Bluetooth Speaker, Adventurer Force IPX7

Monster Bluetooth Speaker, Adventurer Force IPX7 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker 5.0 with Microphone Input, 40W Portable Bluetooth Speakers with 40H Playtime for Indoor Outdoor Party, Black

Next up we have this, Monster Bluetooth Speaker, Adventurer Force IPX7. I wanted a couple on here that I had not had my grubby hands on yet, but that I still thought looked cool. With the name, I was sure this had something to do with Monster Energy, but it does not. Anyway, this is one of the weirdest looking Bluetooth speakers on our best Bluetooth speaker under $200, but that is what I kind of dig about it. It has a kind of boombox-type style to it and at 14 x 6.9 x 9 inches it is a tad bigger than some of the other Bluetooth speakers we have looked at today. The current asking price on Amazon is $149.99 which I think is pretty fair for something like this.

This is waterproof and they even show it pumping music underwater on Amazon, but I am not sure I would do that! Anyway, one of the most impressive things about this is that it offers you 40 hours of playback time! Granted this will differ depending on how loud you have it and so on, but that amount of playback time is insane and I would love to know what kind of witchcraft they have used to pull it off! Granted, I have not used this myself, but from what I have read the sound seems like it would be good. They specifically mention that it has a “deep bass punch” which is great as most people use speakers like this outdoors or at a party so you want it to be loud and still have good clarity to the sound.

What Other People Are Saying

As well as the design it was also the good customer reviews on Amazon that made me take notice of this. There are over 700 reviews for this thing and a very impressive 90 percent of these are for five and four stars respectively. I looked at a few videos, but this video overview was the best one I came across. Here you not only get to see what it looks like from all angles; you also get to experience the sound (well through your device) as well which is very impressive.

I would love to get the chance to put this Monster Bluetooth Speaker, Adventurer Force IPX7. Even though I have not held this in my own hands, I think this is one really cool Bluetooth speaker that was well worth a spot on our best Bluetooth speaker under $200 list. I get that design will not be for everyone. However, the impressive sound quality, waterproof strong body, and the impressive battery time make this one that has to at the very least be considered.

Pros:

  • I actually like the cool design of it
  • This thing is built like a tank
  • It is waterproof
  • The sound packs a real punch and stays nice and clear

Cons:

  • That design is not going to sit well with everyone
  • I have to say this is a company I have not dabbled with much before

TREBLAB HD-Max – Big Loud Bluetooth Speaker

TREBLAB HD-Max - Big Loud Bluetooth Speaker - 50W, 20H Battery, Powerbank, TWS, IPX6 Waterproof | Loud Portable Speaker with Deep Bass | Wireless Outdoor Speakers w/Type-C Connector & Carrying Strap

The TREBLAB HD-Max – Big Loud Bluetooth Speaker is a real party time kind of speaker. I have to start by saying that I love the design of this thing. I do not know why, but I get major “Sony” vibes from the way that this thing looks. It has a strong and durable body that is also water resistant which is always a plus for a speaker that will probably be used outdoors quite a bit. It comes with a carrying strap that for some reason has a bottle opener on it. Hey, I have no idea why this is there, but it is cool nonetheless. At the moment this is priced at around 170 bucks which is a decent price. One feature that I have to give special attention to is the built in power bank! That is right, this thing can actually charge your phone too!

The battery inside this gives you a reported 20 hours of playback time which I think is more than fair. The sound I am sure is great as this thing has four powerful drivers and you can pair it with others for a cool stereo or surround sound effect. At the press of a button, you have three different sound modes there is outdoors, indoors, and bass boost. I really like this and am sure playing around with the different settings would be a lot of fun. I think that this does tick most of the boxes for what you would want in a Bluetooth speaker.

What Other People Are Saying

I found this fantastic video unboxing and review that really does a great job of showing off this speaker. Not only do you get to see the rather awesome-looking design of it, but you also can see just how well made the speaker is and also get an idea of the sound quality it can produce. Currently, on Amazon, there are only around 400 reviews, but it is sitting at a rather impressive 88 percent when it comes to the positive reviews.

I think that the TREBLAB HD-Max – Big Loud Bluetooth Speaker has all that you need from a Bluetooth speaker, hell it even has that bottle opener on the strap. I like the way it has multiple sound modes so you can have it just right for whatever the given situation is. At the end of the day, this is so good that I am already trying to think of a way that I can get one sent to me so I can see it in person and give it my own stamp of approval!

Pros:

  • I think the way it looks is very slick and stylish
  • The carrying strap has a bottle opener on it which is fun
  • This has three different easy to activate sound modes
  • It has a power bank so you can charge a phone (or whatever) which is a neat feature

Cons:

  • It only says that it is water resistant not waterproof
  • I am sure some people would feel goofy walking around with this hanging off their shoulder
